"Lamb to the Slaughter" - I'm the Detective
If I was a detective investigating the murder of Patrick Maloney in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, I would have already guessed Mary was the murderer because there was something way too fishy about her plot. One thing I would've done is investigated a little more and ask more questions. Another thing I would do is try to find out if they have been having any problems and study her actions and facial expressions. And I would at least would've known that that huge lamb leg she offered was the murderer weapon because I would think it's just not normal. I would have been a very great detective.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" Mary's Giggling
At the end of “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, Mary Maloney begins giggling because she fooled the detectives by allowing them to eat the murder weapon. When Mary killed her husband by hitting his head with a lamb leg, she started plotting and scheming on how she would get away with all of it for the sake of her baby. Since she already tricked them by giving them the idea she didn't murder him, insisting on eating the lamb was a very clever move. As they ate the lamb, the detectives talk about how they think the weapon was on premises and how it could be right under their noses while Mary giggles. After the police leave the house, I predict Mary will be relieved that she didn't get caught while she cries her eyes out.
